Eyes and Teeth – Opticians and Dentists
If you have an eye or vision problem then it is essential that you contact an optician directly. Opticians have specialist equipment to diagnose a range of vision problems quickly. Similarly, dental problems should always be taken direct to your dentist. NHS Minor Ailments Service
The NHS Minor Ailment service provides pharmacist-based advice and treatment (e.g provision of over-the-counter medication) for a wide range of minor ailments, for example – acne, constipation, diarrhoea, headache, sore throat, warts. You can register at a pharmacist of your choice. Treatment is free for children, over 60s and adults on certain benefits. If your pharmacist feels it is better for you to see your GP, they may refer you directly or ask you to make an appointment with your GP surgery.
Our telephone lines and Reception are open for enquiries and booking appointments 8am – 6 pm Monday to Friday. We are closed Saturdays and Sundays.
Appointment times can vary a little week by week, depending on the staff on duty, but typical timeslots available for appointments are as below:
Monday: 7.30am* – 11.35am, 1.30pm – 5.30pm
Tuesday: 8am – 11.35am, 1.30pm – 5.30pm
Wednesday: 7.30am* – 11.35am, 1.30pm – 5.30pm
Thursday: 8am – 11.35am, 1.30pm – 5.30pm
Friday: 7.30am* – 11.35am, 1.30pm – 5.30pm
*Extended Hours Service: Pre-booked appointments between 7.30am and 8.30 am on Monday, Wednesday and Friday are available with a GP or Nurse Practitioner for patients who find it difficult to access services owing to work commitments.
